MXC - BDMAEE Features and Applications

Chemical structure diagram of BDMAEE Bis(2-dimethylaminoethyl) ether amine catalyst, CAS 3033-62-3
Technical structure of Bis(2-dimethylaminoethyl) ether

MXC-BDMAEE is a high-efficiency tertiary amine catalyst. Chemically known as Bis(2-dimethylaminoethyl) ether, it is widely recognized in the industry for its exceptional ability to drive the “blowing” (foaming) reaction in polyurethane production.

1. Key Characteristics & Usage

MXC-BDMAEE is defined by its high catalytic activity and selectivity:

  • Blowing Catalyst: It is chemically designed to accelerate the reaction between isocyanates and water, which generates the CO₂ gas that makes foam rise.
  • Dilution for Control: Because the pure substance is so powerful, it is rarely used alone. It is typically diluted with glycols (like dipropylene glycol) to create industry-standard solutions (similar to A-1 or BL-11) for safer and more precise dosing.

2. Synthesis Method

It is produced through the reaction of dimethyl ethanolamine with dimethylamino-2-chloroethane, involving the removal of hydrogen chloride to form the final ether structure.
